MARRIAGE - "A COVENANT BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE"

Forty years of marriage and still going strong
Some say they can't wait and took the "bait"

Many have departed and gone to "another"
They said to themselves "why bother"

The road has been rough and at times the house not too strong
We decided to help one another cause we knew before long
Sickness, Old Age and finally Death will surely come along.

Many end up lonely on this journey
Some parted because they found a "new honey"

Some parted because they wanted to sow "that last wild oat"
Their mate got very sick because they forgot to put on the "cloak"

Some say they fell out of love
They did not know they had to build a strong house?

Some did not wait they took the "bait"
They died from the "bad fruit" they ate

Some looked on the side and thought the grass looked "greener"
They took a leap and found it was an illusion and much more "meaner"

Many I have spoken to have regretted their mistake
They think that reconciliation is just way too late.

Looking back I am happy that I stayed, prayed.  "self"  I had to die
To my Heavenly Father, for my "dead marriage" to come "alive"
He sent His heavenly Angels to respond on the Wings of a Dove
Now I know  the meaning of true, true Love.

Now my prayer is for those who are having doubts
I pray that they will stay and pray for their "dead marriage" to come "alive"
With Faith, my God will deliver, so they too can know this Love.

An outstanding poem Marcia, and very meaningful. I congratulate and commend you on the longevity of your marriage. My wife and I have been married over 53 years now. I know from statistics that one of us will be leaving fairly soon, but I pray that we will be together in eternity. Thanks for sharing this wirh us.

Thank you Joel,

I am happy to know that you were blessed by this poem.  Congratulations also on your longevity of marriage.  It is a testimony to the youth of this generation.  I too pray that we also will be together in eternity.
