A Mothers Day Poem

Mother oh mother where have you been

All my life I have been looking, you are nowhere to be seen

Why did you leave me so forlorn and lonely?

The kids at school has mommies and daddies

I need you to love me mommy

They say you are on crack and perhaps walking the streets

I look for you and cannot find you please come get me

I am begging you mommy, please

I see the kids laughing with their mommies

I see them holding hands and playing games

Oh mommy, I miss you so much please come home today

I long to put my arms around you and hug you so tight

I know your eyes would light up just like the night sky

I would sit right here and wait mommy, night after night

When the night is over, I would put my feet to flight

I would light a candle in my window and perhaps you would see the light

Maybe that would bring you to me perhaps tonight is the night

If I never see you, I would hope that you are doing alright

I said a prayer for you just asking God to protect you each and every night

If you ever pass this way and ever see the light

Know that it is me your son Jimmy, just look up alright?
